SFWLab developed an advanced real-time pothole detection solution to enhance road network infrastructure assessment using computer vision technology. The system employs camera sensor mounted on long-distance buses, enabling automatic detection of potholes while in motion. EDGE computing based real-time analysis allows immediate georeferenced logging of detected potholes, streamlining reporting for municipal maintenance teams. Integration with GIS platforms enables visual mapping and cluster analysis of affected road segments. The system operates efficiently at traffic speeds under varied weather and lighting conditions. Automated measurement data is synchronized with remote databases for central monitoring and statistical analysis.
Further devlopment is ongoing to enable specialized algorithms accurately measure the depth, shape, and severity of each pothole for maintenance prioritization.
The pothole detection solution directly contributes to safer, smoother journeys for drivers and reduces long-term infrastructure costs.
